Conventional wisdom has taught us many beliefs about nutrition and healthy eating, even exercise. I followed this conventional wisdom for almost 20 years until I just couldn’t do it anymore. I was simply exhausted mentally and physically broken, all due to following the conventional rules and guidelines I had been taught since going to school and then onto university. I am here to tell you that this is not normal.

About Me

My name is David Daffey, I am a Health Coach which put simply helps people to feel and look their best version of themselves. I also coach them in activities that often coincide with making this happen. I am a competitive age-group triathlete who has raced 6 x Ironman distance Triathlons (3.8 km open water swim, 180 km bike in the time-trial position, 42.2 km marathon) including the coveted Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawai’i in 2018. I promote living a clean life by following a Low Carb Healthy Fats lifestyle and essentially walk the walk when it comes to helping others.

Since 2016, I have been an advocate of MAF (Maximum Aerobic Functional) Heart Rate training with respect to exercise and connected with peers who operate in this space. I am a lover of animals and all things in nature. My best mate is Harry, a purebred Ragdoll cat who behaves more like a dog than a cat. One passion I have is working with the Can Too Foundation as one of their swimming and running coaches. Since 2016 I have coached wonderful human beings in swimming, running and even triathlon events with the primary aim to help fundraise money in the fight against Cancer. Together, Can Too has worked to achieve raising $20,000,000 in funding Cancer Researchers since inception.

I have lived in Sydney since the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia however recently moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland (during COVID-19) in July 2020.

I have a degree in Psychology and Human Movement Studies from The University of Queensland. I am a Certified Triathlon Australia Foundation and Development Coach. I am AUSTSWIM accredited as a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety. I also develop exercise programs through Training Peaks software and am an accredited Health Coach through the LCHF experts from Real Meal Revolution. All this qualifies me to work with people who want to lose excess weight, achieve optimal body composition, feel good and perform to the best of their ability through best practice nutrition, solid science and exercise that makes you healthy, not simply fit. I try to lead people by setting a good example myself. And importantly, I try to have a laugh everyday…because life is too short not to.

After attending University and learning what I should eat to get the most out of my body, then applying that knowledge over the next 10 years, I began to just not feel like I once did. Being told “that’s just getting old” didn’t sit well with me. That is when I started researching the research.

Increasing your Endurance Capacity

Learn a very counter-intuitive approach to exercise and building a bullet-proof body.  I have certainly been there and done the “conventional wisdom” approach of doing more, thinking that is going to yield better results.  A couple years ago, I was training 20 to 30 hours a week across swimming, cycling and running.  This gave me some success, but it also led me to physical burnout and being mentally broken.

The results are in from my 12 week Dexa scans and thanks to working with David and discovering about this way of eating, I've found it easy to manage my macros, sometimes eating more (as I only roughly know based on pre-prepared meals) and with training have gained lean muscle and lost fat in that period from 15.9% to 12.6% which puts me in the top 1% for body composition for my age-range at 46. I'm gunning for sub 11% but I know that's going to be hard but achievable, nonetheless. I will never drift away from this way of eating. It has been so great working with David who challenged me about my traditional thinking around food. Once you create your 'new normal' you'll never feel deprived. Had been on the way of eating prior to starting weight training but this is 14 weeks progress. Started at 88.6kg an 20.9% body fat. Now sitting at around 85.5Kg and I reckon Around 12%, possibly less. Another 6 week block to go. Sub 10 is the goal. Only carbs are some sweet potato on training days. Occasional glass of wine, piece or 3 of 90% dark chocolate and some Greek yoghurt and berries. Everything else is meat, fish and veg. Eggs and our usual banting favourites like seed crackers. I’m in the best shape of my 46 years, even when I was doing triathlon...

Eating Low Carb and Healthy Fats is not just about food, for me it's about good health. Since changing my eating habits through the help of David, in 2.5 months, my health has improved. My latest blood results showed improvements in my triglyceride levels and my liver function has also improved. David helped me understand how my body was now using fat as a fuel source. As a professional triathlete, I rely so much on energy to help me get my best performance. Learning to access fat a s a fuel source has been incredible. Other areas that have improved since working with David are my energy levels throughout the day whilst working as a swimming coach. I have a more constant energy supply and have better concentration in between the time I eat my main meals. So I am a 50 year old active female who had a podge for as long as she could remember. What is a podge you ask, well it is a big fat belly that I have had since a teenager, the only bit of fat all the way around my middle. I have an all or nothing personality, who is also soft in the head & in the need of guidance So that is where my good friend David Daffey comes into it. He is supportive, sets out the game plan & basically a to do list, he also rings & harasses you (in a nice way) Best part is the structure which I so needed. Your weekly meal plan, plus he makes you accountable. More about Me

I really do LOVE eating healthy food, along with swimming, cycling and running.  That’s right…if you’ve seen the photos on this site, you may have guessed I’m a triathlete.  I also am a Triathlon Australia Certified Coach, as well as an AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.  And when I am not swimming, cycling, running, or cooking, I’m hanging out with my best mate….Harry (a purebred Ragdoll Cat who is more of a dog than a cat). 

 

Now based on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia my passion is to help people live better and healthier lives through what I call “controlling the controllables”.  Since mid 2016, I have been a Health Coach, teaching people about how to feel better through food, physical movement and good sleep practice.
